Last month we had a fascinating session on The Enneagram which is a recognised personality model that offers insights into our own personality, choices, and behaviour and of those around us. The word “ennea” is Greek for nine and “gram” simply means model or figure.
We learnt a little about what the symbol meant and how it represents nine different strategies for relating to the self, others, and the world. Each Enneagram type is characterised by a unique combination of strengths and weaknesses, nine different patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. It highlights the strengths, or gifts of our personality and helps us see where we can become fixated and stuck in a habitual pattern of being.
Many of us felt we would like to delve deeper into the topic and Teresa Daniels has agreed to lead a follow up evening. If you came before it could be useful to bring along the handout she gave you but if you weren’t there, we can send you a handout to look at the different personality types and see if you can discover your own type. Teresa says that the main focus of the work going forward is awareness, through non-judgemental self-observation and cultivating an inner observer.
Teresa is a retired psychology lecturer and a certified teacher in the Narrative Tradition. She teaches the Enneagram in the UK and Internationally.
All welcome but particularly those who came to the last session. There will also be a chance to join in on an optional "bring and share" vegetarian supper afterwards if you would like to continue the discussion.
Cost is £5.00 in advance and £8.00 on the door.
