Recent research has shown that writing down thoughts and feelings can improve mood, the immune system and thinking skills. We are going to explore this topic in more detail and see how we can use writing ourselves to benefit our health and well being.
The evening will be led by Maggie Smith and Catherine Hill. Maggie is a retired counsellor from the University of Kent. Many times she witnessed the therapeutic power of writing for clients as a way of facing and overcoming past trauma and also for herself as a way of 'debriefing' from the process of counselling itself. Catherine Hill has been a teacher for many years and always loved creative writing. She has worked with many different groups and has long been fascinated by the power of expressing ourselves through writing.
