Hampstead & Highgate: Psychodrama – A Tool for Transformation

5 October @ 6:15 pm - 8:45 pm
£10.00

An Experiential Workshop with Malcolm Stern
Monday 5 October | 6.15–8.45pm
Lauderdale House, Highgate

“Psychodrama is an altered state of consciousness.”
— Bessel van der Kolk

Psychodrama is a powerful and creative approach to psychotherapy that enables us to move beyond the logical, thinking mind and access deeper truths at a visceral and embodied level.

In this experiential evening, Malcolm Stern will introduce you to psychodrama as a powerful tool for transformation, exploring how it can unlock new perspectives, release emotional energy and bring us into a deeper relationship with ourselves and others.

Through practical exercises, demonstration and participation, we will explore some of the essential stages of psychodrama, including:
• Reflective listening – learning to hear what lies beneath the words
• Feedback – discovering how others experience us
• Setting up a psychodrama – bringing an issue into the here and now
• Working with touch – exploring safe and appropriate physical connection
• Noticing body signals – listening to the wisdom of the body

This is an opportunity to experience psychodrama rather than simply learn about it – discovering how the body, imagination, relationship and spontaneity can take us beyond familiar patterns and open up new possibilities for change.

Malcolm Stern has been practising psychotherapy for more than 30 years and uses psychodrama as his principal tool in group work. He is the author of Slay Your Dragons with Compassion (Watkins, 2020), teaches internationally, and was co-founder of Alternatives at St James’s Church, Piccadilly.

Come curious. Come ready to participate. Come and discover what psychodrama can unlock.
