An Online Event via Zoom
Curie will introduce you to mindful drawings such as doodling, observational and expressive drawing. There are simple drawing strategies which will help to improve personal well being. The five actions that the New Economics Foundation has found can improve well being are (1) connect, (2) be active, (3) take notice, (4) keep learning and (5) give. Curie will give examples from her book of ways to link with these 5 actions. These drawing strategies can be easily integrated into daily life as part of a consciously creative life of meaning.
If you are unsettled by the invitation to draw, this workshop is for you! It has nothing to do with producing ‘good drawings’ or being ‘artistic’. You do not need any drawing ability to be in this workshop, just an openness and interest in what drawing might offer. You can expect a friendly thought-provoking time. Have a stack of printer paper, different colour felt pens or markers, and some biros ready for this online session.
As a child Curie liked art and storytelling but there wasn’t time for this when she undertook medical training! She moved her careers from medicine to university lecturing where she brought science and creativity together. She then became a ‘double-doctor’ with a PhD in drawing for cognition, developing a system called ‘generative drawing’. She helped people consciously and creatively design their future. Drawing and metaphors enables people to visualise and process complexities such as negative belief patterns. She enjoyed partnering with people to ‘look for the gold’ in their life!
She wrote her first book on the research and practice of drawing for health and wellbeing with two more books in progress. She is a certified embodiment coach and enables people to reconnect to their bodies and surrounding environment consciously and creatively.
