The word ego comes directly from Latin where it means “I” or “I myself”. It balances our 'primal urges' (the Id) with moral standards (the Superego). When there's any imbalance, anxiety, insecurity or arrogance ensues. So its purpose is as a 'leveler' or 'interface' which enables us to function in a manor acceptable by the society we find ourselves in.
It is believed that a healthy ego provides self confidence and the ability to accept criticism and resilience. There are other interpretations of what the ego is and how it serves us. We look forward to you sharing your perspective on this subject.
Join us for an open discussion in a safe non judgemental environment.
**Cost: £7.50.
(We'd really like you to join us, don't let money be an issue. Contact us directly if you're in financial difficulty).
